How To Make A Dry Rub For BBQ Ribs

If you prefer dry ribs like the ones they serve in Memphis, Tn then this BBQ rib rub recipe will be for you!  Now this BBQ rub will not make your BBQ ribs “dry.”  A dry BBQ rib means you do not use any barbecue sauce or bbq glaze. If you are making these bbq ribs for freinds you can serve bbq sauce on the side if you want.

Basic Ingredients:

  • 4 teaspoons paprika
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons fresh ground black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons cayenne

Mix all the together in a bowl untill well blended. You can store your bbq rub in a air tight tupperware container or zip lock bag.  When you put the rub on your ribs only use a bit. You do not want to douse your ribs with too much bbq rub. A light even sprinkle of this rub should do it. If you want your bb rub to be more or less hot, adjust your cayenne pepper amounts.
